Upcoming Meetings Meetings of the SWIPA Board: The SWIPA Board of Directors will meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7am at JoJo’s Restaurant on US 41 North. Meetings are scheduled for May 8th and June 12th. Board members should contact SWIPA President Derek Green at Wal-Mart Pharmacy in Boonville at 897-0089 if they cannot attend. Continuing Education: Mark your calendars for the following dates! Wednesday, April 25th: Meeting on thyroid disorders at the Acropolis Restaurant in Evansville. Details are still being finalized. For more information, watch the SWIPA Hotline or the website. Thursday, May 3rd: Solvay Pharmaceuticals will sponsor a meeting at Cavanaugh’s (inside the Casino Aztar Pavilion) covering Type 2 Diabetes and Male Hypogonadism. RSVP to Derek Green at Wal-Mart Boonville at 897-0089 no later than Monday, April 30th if you plan to attend. Wednesday, June 6th: AstraZeneca will sponsor a meeting covering Nexium. Details to be announced when finalized.
Meeting Contacts Several of our recent meetings have been offered by company reps very close to the meeting date, leaving us insufficient time to publish them in the newsletter. President Derek Green has been using a list of some members’ e-mail addresses to announce meetings, and this may be the most efficient way to spread the word about last-minute meetings. Derek would like to get a list of as many SWIPA members’ e-mail addresses as possible to allow us to quickly disperse time-sensitive information. Derek promises not to send spam e-mail, and will not use your e-mail address for non-SWIPA purposes. If you would like to be added to the communication list, please send Derek an e-mail at derek1027@yahoo.com. Thanks.
President, Board Members Sought At the last Board of Directors meeting in April, President Derek Green announced that he will step down effective August 1, 2007, marking the end of two years of service as President of SWIPA. Presidential terms are normally one year in length, but in recent years, several people have had to serve two-year terms, since no one was willing to step forward to serve as President or President-Elect. Recent calls for volunteers have not been successful, and now someone must step forward to continue the leadership of SWIPA. Several Past-Presidents sit on the Board of Directors and will advise and assist anyone interested in serving as President. If you are interested in serving as President or know anyone who may be, please contact President Derek Green at Wal-Mart in Boonville at 897-0089 or Tom Fite at Sandleben Pharmacy at 425-3555.
